"The Erdkinder" Experience
Maria Montessori affectionately referred to the adolescent as
"Erdkinder" (Children of the Earth). Montessori's work with this
age group revealed to her their innate desire to investigate the
world beyond the family toward discovery of society and the roles
they will play as self-sufficient, independent citizens.
We have created an adolescent program, encompassing the best of
the classroom, the natural environment and our culturally rich
region. The curriculum is based on inter- disciplinary projects and a
business that require real work outdoors and in the community.
